Do or do not, there is no try.
- Yoda (Star Wars movie)
What's wrong with the common advice to Try, and Try Harder? Saying, "I'll try," tends to feel half-hearted and unconvincing. We wouldn't say, "I'm going to
try to go to the store for a loaf of bread," we would just say, "I'm going," and so we would. We would feel extremely unsafe in the pilot of our aircraft announced, "I'm going to
try to land at the New York airport in five minutes." When we say something like, "I'm going to
try to get a better job," we exhibit a lack of confidence that inhibits our ability to accomplish what we intend. Just take a deep breath, tell the world what you are going to do, and then do it.
