Try a new perspective on diversity. Across the country and around the world, we are all one. - jonathan lockwood huie

Try a new perspective on diversity. Across the country and around the world, we are all one.
- jonathan lockwood huie
We are all "neighbors." Our world has gotten too small for us to be anything else. We can no longer have "us" and "them" - friends and enemies. A person from Iraq, or Russia, or Columbia is no more a stranger or enemy than a person from across town. A few people everywhere are troublemakers. Every religion provokes a few people to become extremists. Do we need police around the globe? Unfortunately, we always will. Do we need war? Does that question even deserve an answer?

Clustrophobia and the sense of "nowhere to run" might provoke us neighbours to react to each other in a very negative way. After all, even though we can go to the moon, very few of us at this time can imagine making our home there, yet. The realization that the Universe is so vast, yet we are all stuck on a pinhead could be upsetting. Can we say that the extremists are suffering from the "small picture" perspective? Pushing out the boundries, like they do, is a way to escape the world that is otherwise unescapable. No one realizes that to be any given star means to be as small as the neighbour next door. All circling their orbits, crossing the celestial streets, still it is not easy to accept what is. War is when you belive you have the perfect solution for [soul] expansion: our need to cross the boundries and fences that keep us apart... Jolanta
